Many people are worried about shooting lead bullets. Below are some of the questions, and their answers.

Hardcast Bullets FAQ

What does Hard Cast mean?
"Hard cast" means a lot of different things to a lot of different people. Hard cast bullets are just that: harder. Pure lead typically has a Brinell hardness of 4. When we say hard cast, that means our bullets have a Brinell hardness of greater than 35. For more information regarding the hardness of bullets in general, and of ours in particular, click here.

What alloy do you use?
We use a 2% Tin / 6% Antimony / 92% Lead bullet alloy for casting all bullets. We buy our bullet alloy directly from a local foundry that has the knowledge, equipment and experience to manufacture bullet alloy to exacting specifications. Since our manufacturing is close to the supplier, we can keep our prices low.

What machines do you use?
Our bullets are cast using only Magma Engineering commercial-quality bullet casting machines with Magma Engineering’s bullet molds. These casting machines are the "industry standard" and yield bullets that are true to the mold, free of voids and have a nice clean finish.

What lube do you use?
Our bullets are sized and lubed using a Magma Lube-Sizer and lubed with a proprietary lube blend. With a 220ºF melting point, it will not melt out and contaminate your powder. It is a hard, tough formula, which bonds securely to the bullet.

Prior to packaging we also use a proprietary coating on each bullet. This coating adds an additional layer of lubricant, preventing leading, and also protects the bullet from minor damage that may occur during shipping.

What additional safety precautions should I use when loading or shooting your bullets?

We also recommend that you wash your hands and face thoroughly with soap and water before eating or drinking. This is the same recommendation that we give to people loading any sort of ammunition.

What sort of inspection process do your bullets go through?
Bullets are inspected before packaging to ensure quality. Any bullets that are dented, misshaped or don't have lubricant completely around the lube groove are culled out.

I'm worried about leading. Will your bullets cause a lot of leading?
No, our bullets will not cause a lot of leading. Because our lead is hardcast, leading does not appear until you start pushing velocities over 1,800 feet per second.

Can I shoot your lead bullets in my GLOCK?
We do not recommend it. GLOCK's instruction manual specifically prohibits the use of hardcast lead bullets in their pistols. The lead can build up in the polygonal rifling, causing high pressure, which will eventually lead to cracked frames or barrels.

Aftermarket barrels, such as those made by Lone Wolf Distributors, offer a great opportunity to use lead bullets in your GLOCK.
